Vetra Construction Ltd has lodged a planning application for a 98-unit housing development in Kilbarry. The company proposes to build 20 four-bed homes for seven occupants, 46 three-bed units for five occupants, and a four-storey apartment block containing a mix of one-bed and two-bed apartments.

The application forms part of a wider masterplan for the Kilbarry area, with Vetra Construction also seeking approval for a separate 99-unit development on adjoining lands.

The masterplan covers roughly 32 hectares, and the developer plans to use Lacken Road as the main access point.

Vetra Construction outlines a long-term vision for the site that includes a new primary school located beside a permitted crèche.

Planning documents describe the masterplan lands as a transitional zone between suburban expansion and semi-rural agricultural land.

The latest proposal includes 190 metres of LIHAF road to create a link between the site and the neighbouring 260-unit Foxwood development to the west. K-Design Studio in Kilkenny is acting as the master-planner and architect for the project.
