The planning application for a second cath lab at University Hospital Waterford will be submitted at the end of this month.
The Health Minister met with Waterford Oireachtas members today to discuss a number of concerns regarding UHW.
Simon Harris confirmed that €4.8m will be made available in the 2020 HSE Revenue Budget to fully staff the South East Palliative Care Centre.
He also said the planning application for a second cath lab will be submitted at the end of October.
The existing cath lab at UHW only operates from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
A national review of cardiology services was established in January 2018 following lobbying by Waterford Oireachtas members over the lack of a 24/7 cardiology service in the south east.
Minister Harris confirmed today that the review will be completed by the end of the year.
