There have been 45 sightings of pests in Beaumont Hospital this year, including rats and a mouse.

Ants and maggots have also been seen in the Dublin facility.

 

According to details released under the Freedom of Information Act, rats have been seen in Beaumont Hospital twice this year.

On March 7th, rats were sighted at the back of the private clinic on the grounds of the hospital.

Pest control services were also called three weeks later after a rat was seen in the Kidney Foundation area, near the creche.

The same month, a mouse was sighted in the Hardwick Utility Room.

As of mid-November, ants had been spotted on 31 occasions, while there were also single sightings of maggots and bed-bugs.

The hospital has spent 25,000 euro on pest control services this year - nearly twice the bill from 2018.
