An average of 355 parking fines a week have been issued by Waterford City and County Council in the first five months of this year.
From January to May of 2024, Waterford City and County Council traffic wardens issued 7,812 parking fines.
5,626 fines were issued in Waterford City while 2,186 have been issued in Dungarvan.
No fines were issued in Tramore in this period, as the season doesn't commence until June.
The figures represent a 10.4% increase on this time last year, when an average of 323 fines were issued across a 12-month period.
Last year, Waterford City and County Council took in €2.5m in parking fines and charges - with that figure set to rise by €260,000 with current projections.
