A four car rear-end collision has occurred on the Outer Ring Road near the inner approach to University Hospital Waterford.
The incident occurred at 5pm.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area where possible as Waterford Gardai say the road is partially blocked with significant tailbacks currently experienced.
Emergency services are en route to the scene, with two ambulances currently on site.
Significant delays are expected. It is not believed that there are any injuries to report and the ambulances were called on a precautionary measure.
Updates to follow.
