Ten multi agency checkpoints which included Gardai, Customs, Department of Social Protection and the Road Safety Authority were conducted in Waterford yesterday
as part of Operation Storm.
Garda Uniform, Detective, Traffic, Drug Armed Support and Dog Units were all involved. .
3 premises were searched under warrant which resulted in a number of drug seizures including a detection for the sale and supply of drugs.
There were 2 arrests for Driving under the influence of Drugs.
5 Customs detections for the use of Green Diesel.
Officers from the Dept of Social Protection carried out 36 interviews with a number of cases requiring follow up investigation.
4 cars were seized for no insurance/tax offences.
There were 5 searches of people and vehicles under Misuse of Drugs legislation and 4 detections of drugs for simple possession.
Numerous demands were made for production of documents and Fixed Charged Notices were issued.
