A redevelopment plan has been lodged to convert the site of a former Waterford nursing home into new housing.
Maypark House Nursing Home, situated just off Dunmore Road, closed its doors in 2022.
Maypark Lane Ltd have submitted a planning application seeking approval for 29 residential units on the property.
The project outlines a mix of accommodation, comprising 25 apartments and four houses. Of the apartments, 19 would be one-bedroom units, five would have two bedrooms, and one would be a three-bedroom unit. The housing element would consist of three two-bedroom, two-storey homes and one three-bedroom, two-storey home.
The scheme also proposes partial demolition works, specifically the removal of more modern two-storey extensions to the front and side of the former care home building.
Planned new construction includes a two-storey extension at both the front and rear of the building’s north-western corner, a single-storey addition to two existing outbuildings, and the creation of new first-floor extensions on two other outbuildings.
Further works would provide balconies, carry out repairs to the exterior of all existing buildings where needed, add car parking spaces, and introduce a new internal one-way access road.
The local authority is expected to issue a decision on the application by October 27.
