There's still no change in the number of patients with coronavirus at University Hospital Waterford.

According to HSE figures from 8 o'clock last night there were 7 confirmed cases on site.

8 suspected cases are awaiting results.

Two people remain in intensive care.

Elsewhere, there's been a spike in the number of patients with Covid-19 at St Lukes Hospital in Kilkenny. There are now 15 confirmed cases, a further 18 suspected cases are awaiting results.

As of midnight on Sunday there were 138 cases in Waterford since the outbreak began, thats an increase of 1 since Saturday.

The number of vacant general beds in the country’s hospitals is lowering, according to figures from the HSE.

There are 1,380 available nationwide.

277 critical care beds are occupied and 113 of them are coronavirus patients.

745 people are being treated in hospital for confirmed Covid-19 at present.

More people are to be tested for Covid-19 from next week.

Testing capacity is to increase to 70,000 after the bank holiday weekend, with a plan in place to carry out 15,000 tests a day from May 18th.

Over 153,000 have already been conducted, including 41,000 over the past week.

The Covid-19 death toll stands at 1,159, while there are close to 20,000 confirmed cases.
