A GAA Club in County Waterford is seeking to construct a new community centre and sports hub.
Newtown/Ballydurn GAA Club has lodged an application with Waterford City and County Council for the construction of the centre at Carrigeen, Newtown, Kilmacthomas.
It includes an open plan multi-purpose function room, kitchenette, store, gym and viewing gallery overlooking the pitch, alterations to the bathroom facilities of the existing clubhouse building and construction of a communal entrance linking the existing and proposed buildings.
The project also includes reconfiguration of the existing car park layout, development of an overspill car park to be accessed by a pedestrian walkway from the existing carpark and relocation of the onsite waste treatment system.
The application also proposes the construction of a new ball wall with perimeter fencing and all weather astro turf infill associated area, associated flood lighting, together with all ancillary and associated site works.
The application is at pre-validation stage and submissions can be made to Waterford Council until February 13th, with a decision expected by March 6th.
