From its humble beginnings to becoming a powerhouse in Ireland's media landscape, Nemeton TV has delivered world-class content for TG4, RTÉ, BBC, Sky Sports, and other top broadcasters.
Founded in 1994 by Irial Mac Murchú, Nemeton TV began its journey with a dream to revolutionize live sports coverage for Irish audiences.
Nemeton TV accomplished the extraordinary early on by securing La Liga football highlights for TG4’s iconic Olé, Olé program, outpacing industry giants like Sky Sports and Eurosport.
"We were fearless back then,” reflects Irial Mac Murchú, CEO of Nemeton TV. “We knew we were breaking new ground, and our passion for TG4, sport, and the Irish language fuelled us. That courage, that willingness to dream big, has stayed with us ever since. It’s a part of who we are.”
What began as a bold startup has blossomed into a cutting-edge production house, with more than two-thirds of its dedicated staff hailing from the local Gaeltacht community.
Today, Nemeton TV is synonymous with groundbreaking sports coverage—whether it’s hurling, football, rugby, horse racing, or its critically acclaimed Laochra Gael documentary series.
“Being based here in An Rinn has been a gift,” says Mac Murchú. “It’s given us a fresh perspective and the freedom to innovate. Our journey has never been easy, but that’s made us sharper, stronger, and more determined to shine.”
The company was the first to bring National Football and Hurling League games, club championships, and ladies' football to television. It also pioneered the use of super slow-motion cameras, microphones on referees, and picture-in-picture replays—techniques now standard in sports broadcasting.
Beyond its production achievements, Nemeton has also established itself as a beacon of education for future Irish TV talent, having run its renowned Post Graduate Programme in partnership with SETU for 18 years, shaping and nurturing the next generation in Irish broadcasting.
As Nemeton TV looks to the horizon, it remains deeply committed to its roots in the Irish language and the community that has fuelled its success. “We are incredibly proud of our journey over these 30 amazing years,” Mac Murchú beams. “But our story is far from over.
