Motorists travelling into Waterford City face major disruption today as N25 roadworks delays Waterford commuters between Carrolls Cross and the Carrick Road Roundabout.
Traffic slowed significantly throughout the morning as road crews carried out works on the inbound lane.
At this month’s Comeragh District council meeting. Cathaoirleach John O’Leary queried why roadworks are not taking place during the night.
In response, Gabriel Hynes, Director of Services for Roads, said night-time operations would double the contractor’s costs. He also noted that working after dark creates additional safety risks for road crews.
There are long queues forming during peak travel times.
The works aim to improve road safety and surface quality along the busy stretch.
Crews continue to operate throughout the day, and authorities advise motorists to allow extra time for their journeys or consider alternative routes where possible.
