Motorcyclist (30s) dies in Dublin road collision

A man aged in his 30s has died after being fatally injured during a road traffic collision in Dublin yesterday evening.

The two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle occurred at around 5pm on Wednesday on the Mitchelstown Road in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15, at the junction of Northwest Business Park.

The driver of the motorcycle, the man aged in his 30s, was fatally injured. The coroner was notified and his body was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

The driver of the car was treated at the scene by emergency services.

Garda forensic collision investigators attended the scene and the Mitchelstown Road was closed for a period of time. The road has since reopened.

Gardaí investigating the collision are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling on the Mitchelstown Road between 4.30pm and 5.30pm yesterday, and who may have camera footage, are asked to make it available to gardaí.
