Mother of e-bike crash victim calls for ban on e-bikes in Waterford

The mother of a young Waterford man who passsed away has called for a ban on e-scooters and e-bikes.
Sammy Hanrahan (18), from Clonard Park in Ballybeg, died on Friday, November 21st, as a result of injuries sustained in an incident on the Cork Road on Sunday, November 16th, at around 7.45pm.
His mother, Jane Browne, says the tragedy has highlighted what she believes is a growing and unregulated danger on the roads.
She says e-bikes reach high speeds and offer no insurance, putting riders and other road users at risk.
Speaking on Déise Today, Ms Browne said the bikes “have no place on the road”.
