Five months after sitting their exams the Junior Cert class of 2022 will finally get their results today.
1,857 Waterford students have been waiting two months longer than usual to find out their grades.
Nationally, over 67,000 are expecting their results today.
They were also the first year to sit the full exams since 2019 after they were cancelled during the pandemic.
The delayed results were caused by the second sitting of the Leaving Cert and a shortage of examiners to mark the papers.
Education Minister Norma Foley hopes there won't be similar delays next year.
"Of course, we would all have wished that the timing would have been earlier," the Minister said.
"But I do accept the State Examinations Commission's view that they had particular challenges this year.
"Notwithstanding that, there will be a full review now about the State Examinations Commission, looking at things going forward next year and how best accommodations can be put in place to ensure that we're looking at an earlier time-frame [for results next year] at the very least."
Today's results are being given in-person from 12 o'clock, while they will also be available online from 4 o'clock.
