The state funeral of Detective Garda Colm Horkan has heard how he was a "gem" who was "cut down in the prime of his life".
Hundreds of Gardai performed a guard of honour from his home in Charlestown, Co. Mayo to St. James' Church.
Minute's silences were also held at garda stations across Ireland this afternoon, including in Waterford city and county.
