The main event of the Meagher Tricolour Celebration takes place today.
Having started last Friday, the annual celebration remembers the first time the Irish flag was flown back in 1848 by Waterford's Thomas Francis Meagher.
This afternoon there will be a virtual raising of the flag, which can be watched on the event's Facebook page.
Paul Dower is one of the organisers, and he says that this will be the highlight of the weekend.
"Everything is based around the flag and it's not just Meagher himself but it's the ideal that he had - peace between all factions in Ireland.
"Initially it was between Catholics and Protestants, but he saw himself that Ireland was made up of many people with many creeds.
"That's why the message today is more poignant than ever, and that's the word that we want to get out.
