A man was rescued from the River Suir in Waterford City overnight.

The Irish Coast Guard tasked Waterford City River Rescue to a report of a man entering the water at Rice Bridge.

Members of the River Rescue arrived at the scene at 2.35am where an interagency response consisting of the Gardaí, Ambulance and Fire Service took place.

The man was taken from the water at 2.45am and received treatment.

Waterford City River Rescue has reiterated the importance of an early call to the Emergency Services for water incidents so the relevant services can be dispatched promptly.
