Man injured in Blanchardstown restaurant shooting dies in hospital

A man shot during an incident at a restaurant in Blanchardstown in Dublin on Christmas Eve has died in hospital.

Jason Hennessy Snr (48) was pronounced dead at the Mater Hospital, and a murder investigation has been launched.

The incident took place at around 8pm on December 24th at Browne’s Steakhouse on Main Street in Blanchardstown when two gunmen entered the premises and discharged a number of shots.

Mr Hennessy was shot during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Gardaí confirmed a post-mortem examination will be carried out on Mr Hennessy's body in the coming days.

One of the gunman, Tristan Sherry (26), was subsequently assaulted and was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardaí are also conducting a murder investigation in relation his death.

On Saturday, Michael Andrecut (22) appeared in court charged with Mr Sherry's murder.

A number of arrests have also been made in connection to the incident.

On Thursday evening, Gardaí confirmed a second man has been charged as part of the ongoing investigations.

He is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court on Friday morning.

The force added a third person arrest in connection with the incident remains in Garda custody at a station in West Dublin.

Investigating officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with information in relation to the incident to contact Blanchardstown Garda station on 01-666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666 111, or any Garda station.
