A man in his thirties has been charged in relation to an assault which occurred in Waterford City on Friday last.

At approximately 2.20pm, Gardaí responded to a call at a house in St Catherine’s Grange housing estate.

A man in his seventies was found unconscious and injured at the scene.

A man in his thirties was arrested at the scene and has been charged with assault causing harm contrary to Section 3 Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 and has been remanded in custody.

A full examination of the scene was carried out by Scenes of Crime investigators.
