A man remains in custody on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman in her 70s was found at a house in Kilkenny City.
The discovery was made in Maudlin Street yesterday evening after reports of a disturbance at a house in the area.
The woman's body is being taken to Dublin City Morgue for a post mortem, which will be carried out later today.
The Technical Bureau remain at the scene and searches are continuing in the city at a number of locations.

Gardaí say they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the unexplained death.
