A man's been arrested following a high speed chase in Waterford yesterday evening.
At approximately 6:35pm, a vehicle failed to stop for Gardaí at The Folly in Waterford City.
The driver drove off at speed towards Waterford Airport and drove along a number of back roads towards Tramore.
He then went the wrong way around the roundabout at the Promenade in Tramore.
Gardaí attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver rammed into the side of a patrol car.
Gardaí set up a number of road blocks in Tramore and Waterford but the vehicle made no effort to stop at any of them.
He continued to drive in a reckless and dangerous manner, driving up the wrong side of the dual carriageway towards the Couse Roundabout from Ballindud.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop as it was mechanically unfit to go any further.
The 22 year old male driver was arrested and taken to Waterford Garda Station.
No one was injured during the incident. The Garda car is now out of commission requiring repairs.
Gardaí are urging witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact them.
