A 34-year-old man accused of the murder of Tramore woman, Gillian Curran says he feels safer in prison.

Marcus O’Neill of O’Brien Street, Waterford appeared today, April 8th, via videolink before Waterford District Court.

He has been in custody in Cloverhill Prison since January of this year.

The court heard that the state are seeking a 4-week period for production of the Book of Evidence.

He will appear before Waterford District Court on May 6th.

Reacting to this development in his case, Mr O’Neill told Judge Staunton:

“I feel safer here than I do back there with the way my name has been over all the news.”

He repeated: “I feel safer here at the moment.”
