Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision at Smithstown, Mullinavat in Co.Kilkenny this morning.
The single-vehicle collision, involving a car, occurred at approximately 9.30 am on the R448.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 70s, was fatally injured.
The road was closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since been re-opened.
The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
