A major change is planned to the 360 Tramore -Waterford bus route.
At last night's meeting of the Metropolitan District in City Hall, it was confirmed to councillors that the National Transport Authority had requested the Riverstown spur stop be suspended from the route.
It was suggested by Council officials that there is a likely chance Local Link will pick up the route on their service, however there was no confirmation available to councillors. It was however, confirmed that the NTA have announced their intention to discontinue the Riverstown stop from the route.
Independent councillor Joe Conway who raised the issue initially, called the move a 'retrograde step' which would heavily impact those in the area who use the service and who need it the most.
It was flagged during the meeting that if confirmation can be received regarding Local Link's involvement, then a push needs to be made to service the wider prom area to offer people more options.
