A number of people have died following a collision in County Louth yesterday evening.

The crash, which involved two vehicles, occurred shortly after 9pm on the L3168 in the townland of Gibstown, Dundalk.

Gardaí have said that a “number of fatalities” have occurred as a result of the collision, and several people have been injured.

Gardaí, the vehicles and bodies of the deceased all remain at scene.

A number of people have also been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station,” a spokesperson said.
