Gardaí foiled a planned raid on a sports store in Cork City yesterday evening.
Up to 100 young people gathered in the Patrick Street area shortly before 6 o'clock yesterday evening.
Most were dressed in black and had their faces covered.
The Irish Examiner reports that a notice had been posted on Twitter calling JD Sports on Patrick Street to be robbed.
The message stated: "Dress code. You must wear all black with bally [balaclava] and gloves. You only have one minute to yam that shop. This is at your own risk. Don’t come if you can’t run."
Armed gardaí as well as the riot squad were deployed to the city centre and the group of teenagers dispersed.
No arrests were made but gardaí saY investigations are ongoing.
