
A protest will take place on the N11 in Dublin this morning against the continued use of the Citywest Hotel in Dublin as accommodation for asylum seekers.
A car demonstration is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. from the car park of the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour. Protesters plan to travel in convoy along the N11 to highlight their opposition.
Organisers say they object to the hotel being turned into a permanent International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centre.
On 17 June 2025, the Cabinet officially approved the State’s acquisition of the Citywest Hotel for use as a permanent IPAS centre.
The complex, currently used to house asylum seekers and Ukrainian refugees, has a capacity for around 2,300 people, and no immediate plan to expand that as part of the agreement, according to the Government.
Local residents have voiced concerns about loss of community amenities and lack of prior consultation, highlighting the decision’s impact on Saggart village and surrounding areas according to local media reports.
