Residents of nursing homes in Waterford had a brief respite from cocooning this afternoon.

They took part in a walk in the grounds or car parks of each facility at midday.

They’ve all been in lockdown since the 6th of March with no visitors permitted. All nursing homes in Waterford remain free of COVID-19.

Havenwood had around 40 residents and team members out in the front car park. Management said there was “great colour, with Waterford, Munster, Ireland and Dublin flags”.

Rockshire Nursing Home in Ferrybank; Greenhills in Carrick-on-Suir; the Holy Ghost Residential Home on the Cork Road; Maypark House; Mooncoin Residential Care Centre and Killure Bridge Nursing Home were among the care homes taking part. They hope that it will become a weekly event.
