The Liz Nugent Waterford event will take place next month, as one of Ireland’s most successful crime writers prepares to visit Carrickphierish Library.
Liz Nugent will appear at the Gracedieu venue on Wednesday, April 15, where she will discuss her latest novel and her writing career. Organisers have scheduled the event for 7pm as part of the Writers at Waterford Libraries series.
Author to discuss latest novel
Nugent will speak about her new book, The Truth About Ruby Cooper, which publishers released in March 2026. She will also reflect on her career writing psychological suspense and domestic noir fiction.
Mary Conway will lead the conversation on the night, focusing on Nugent’s approach to storytelling and the themes that shape her work.
Nugent has built a reputation for writing from the perspective of criminals and exploring the consequences for victims. Her debut novel Unravelling Oliver topped bestseller lists in 2014 and won Crime Novel of the Year at the Irish Book Awards.
She followed that success with Lying in Wait, which also reached number one and gained international recognition after selection for the Richard and Judy Book Club. Her later works, including Skin Deep and Our Little Cruelties, continued to achieve commercial and critical success.
Her 2023 novel Strange Sally Diamond became one of the biggest books of the year in Ireland and secured Crime Novel of the Year at the An Post Irish Book Awards.
