Plans are afoot for a magical Christmas experience in Lismore for the start of next month.

Santa at the Strand will be running from the 1st to the 4th of December, with a festival-style operation planned for the four days.

It's all in aid of St Carthages Home in Lismore and the Cappoquin Day Centre.

This is the second year the event is being held - the first having happened in 2019.

But speaking to WLR News, Jenny Lyons from the Together We Can committee says it will have doubled in size this year.

Along with Santy himself, there will also be a kilometre-long walk through the magic forest, there'll be a floating crib, entertainment, and plenty of food stalls.

Visitors can expect to see local cuisines, hurley makers, florists, craftspeople, and a kayak company.

Coming from further afield is \Stephen Tierney Ties, and a kids carrousel.

Over 100 people are involved with the event this year, but it's this involvement that creates a deeper sense of community.

"It's an event like this that brings poeople togther who are like-minded," Gráinne Moynihan, from the Together We Can committee, said.

Anyone hoping to bring children to see Santy over those four days is being asked to book in advance by November 16th.
