The Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber of Commerce's "Let's make it a million' initiative has been officially launched.

It was launched by Táinaiste Leo Varadkar last Friday, October 21st.

Food, fuel, and facials are all on the cards if you are to buy one of the Chamber's vouchers.

Their target is to make €1 million euro for local businesses through the use of the vouchers.

Last year, €990,000 was circulated locally, supporting over 1,000 jobs and 150 businesses in West Waterford.

This year, they want to see that number reach €1 million.

Chamber CEO Jenny Beresford says their target of one million is very achievable and that it's more important now than ever to support our local economy.

"We don't want to see a scenario where businesses are forced to close because they can't keep their doors open because the local economy are not supporting them," she told WLR.

In the recent Budget 2023 announcements, it was made aware that employers can gift employees vouchers of up to €1,000 tax free.

Jenny is encouraging businesses to use the vouchers if they are planning on rewarding staff.

"We believe this year we can make it a million," she said.

Voucher's can be bought through the Dungarvan Credit Union, Tourist Office, or in Capital Cleaners on O'Connell Street.

They can also be found on the Chamber's website.
