Large dolphin found washed up by River Suir

A large dolphin was found washed up by the River Suir at Grannagh boat slip this afternoon, as this photo from Alan Reilly shows.

There have been many dolphin sightings locally in recent months.

In December, a large whale washed up on Tramore Strand.

Initially believed to be a fin whale, the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group said this week that with the warming of oceans they have seen new species appear on Irish shores and are working to verify identification.
