Long-standing Waterford Labour party county councillor John Pratt has announced he is not going to run in the forthcoming General Election.
The Tallow-based councillor told WLR that he has informed party headquarters the he will not be looking for a seat in the new Dail, whenever the election takes place.
He said he has thought long and hard about the move but believes it is the right decision for him and his family.
He is due to talk to WLR this morning.
