Cosmo Developments Newtown Limited has submitted a new planning application to Waterford City and County Council for a 37-unit residential development in the Newtown Park area of Tramore. This follows a previous application for 35 houses that was refused earlier this year due to concerns over sewer connections, surface water disposal, and visual impact.

The revised proposal includes upgrades to the existing pumping station, enhancements to local roads and footpaths, site landscaping, amenity areas, boundary treatments, lighting, drainage, and a new road connection to Newtown Park, along with all associated infrastructure.

In 2024, the country saw a record 60,243 new homes commenced, an 84% increase from the previous year. However, actual completions fell short of government targets, with only 30,330 new housing units completed, a 6.7% decrease from 2023.

A decision on the application is expected by June 6.
