A formal investigation into an incident at Mount Suir apartment complex in Waterford City is underway.
Two children were hospitalised yesterday (Friday) after falling from a balcony at Block C.
The siblings, a three-year-old boy and seven-year-old-girl, were transferred to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) for treatment of injuries.
It's understood the girl was discharged yesterday afternoon but her brother was kept in for treatment of his injuries.
Residents of the apartment complex, which is under the remit of Waterford City and County Council, have been highlighting various issues for many years including on WLR.
In a statement to WLR on yesterday's incident, An Garda Síochána said: "Shortly before 11am on Friday 20th March, Gardaí in Waterford assisted other agencies in responding to a medical emergency at a residential property at Mount Suir, Waterford. An Garda Síochána has no additional information regarding the incident."
Meanwhile, a statement from Waterford City and County Council stated: "Waterford City and County Council was notified of a serious incident at the Mount Suir Apartment complex in Waterford City on Friday, 20th March. The Council has reached out to the family to offer support and a formal investigation into the incident has commenced."
