Inpatient waiting lists at University Hospital Waterford increased over the last year, according to new figures.
However, a report in this morning's Irish Examiner says the opposite has been the case for outpatient waiting lists.
The figures from the National Treatment Purchase fund show that throughout Ireland, inpatient waiting lists grew from just over 68,000 in August 2021 to over 79,000 in August of this year.
That's despite a government allocation of €350 million in February to tackle these lists.
At University Hospital Waterford, the figure rose by just under a thousand, to 4,932 people waiting for inpatient treatment.
However, the paper says that separate figures from the Department of Health show some hospitals' outpatient lists reducing over the same time-period.
In UHW, the number of people waiting decreased by 9,780 or 21%.
And those waiting over a year fell by a massive 48% or just over 11,300 people.
