The government has responded positively to a request from nurses for an extra ten days holidays, according to a nursing union.
A claim was submitted last November for the additional days and a meeting was held yesterday with employers over the issue.
General Secretary of the INMO Phil Ni Sheaghdha is welcoming the positive response.
"The employers met us yesterday and they are considering it. We understand from government that there is a positive disposition to it.
"We don't actually think we should have had to lodge a claim or it should have taken until this point to get some positive recognition," the INMO Secretary said.
The extra days are being requested in recognition of their service on the frontline during the pandemic.
