The number of Garda vehicles written off in crashes has risen sharply, with the Waterford-Kilkenny region among the highest impacted.
According to figures obtained by Social Democrats TD Aidan Farrelly, the number of Garda vehicles written-off following crashes has increased by 170 per cent in the last year.
The figures, reported by the Irish Independent, reveal 41 vehicles were damaged beyond repair last year, compared to 15 in 2024.
The west Dublin Metropolitan region had the highest number of incidents last year with more than 100 collisions, followed by Cork city at 80, and the Waterford-Kilkenny region with 75.
The crashes were frequently the result of high speed chases.
