Immigration checks have been carried out on ten buses at a checkpoint on the N1/ M1 in Dundalk, County Louth on the Northern Ireland / Republic of Ireland border.

2 people were deported from the country last night in a crackdown on rural crime and human trafficking by Gardaí and the PSNI.

There were four detections for drug driving and other cars were seized for having no tax or insurance.

The Department of Social Protection identified 16 people for whom it wants to carry out further enquiries, and Revenue Customs found Marked Gas Oil being unlawfully used in six cars.
