Land prices in County Waterford have jumped by 47 per cent.

That’s according to a survey by the Irish Famers Journal.

The survey was based on 1,287 acres offered for sale on 24 holdings – and on 12 properties which had sold by year end.

The average price has jumped by forty seven per cent to €16, 572 per acre.

Dairy farmers were the most active buyers of land in 2023, but tillage farmers and investors purchased too.

There were a number of public auctions, including Brian Gleeson Auctioneers who sold a 53 acre holding at Lismore for €1.22 million.

REA Spratt sold 32 acres near Dungarvan for €650,000

Meanwhile, Harty Auctioneers sold around 24 acres at Ballyduff by private treaty for close to €22,000 per acre.
