Huge interest in South East Jobs and Skills Fair at City Hall

There was huge interest in the South East Jobs and Skills Fair which was held today (Saturday) at City Hall.

The free-to-attend event featured around 50 employers from across a range of industries in the South East.

Avril Bowe from Waterford Chamber was delighted with the level of interest shown.

Speaking to WLR, she said there were many different nationalities in attendance.

"We've had a really steady flow of people through the door, lots of people looking for jobs and upskilling opportunities and lots of members of the Ukrainian community looking for opportunities," she said.

"The quality of candidates coming through the door was really striking - we've had engineers, nurses, sectors where there is a recruitment crisis."

Avril says many recruiters in attendance were "overwhelmed" with the response to the fair.

"I think there was a real need for Waterford to go out there and say 'we have great opportunities, it's a great place to live, work and learn'. The success of today's event has really shown that."
