The hot spell that has seen record-breaking temperatures in many parts of the country is coming to an end.
Many Met Éireann weather stations recorded temperatures of over 30 degrees yesterday including in Mullingar in Westmeath, Oak Park in Carlow and Dunsany in Meath.
Waterford City Weather's station recorded a high yesterday of 25.3 degrees, as the coastal areas were somewhat cooler.
The east will see the best of the temperatures today reaching 28 degrees in places while other parts could see the mercury reaching 22 degrees.
Cathal Nolan of Irelands Weather Channel says conditions will change in the coming days with some thundery downpours expected:
"We'll see an increase in clouds with the risk of maybe one or two thundery downpours breaking out, as we experience this change of air-mass.
"Then, I suppose, as we go through the remainder of the week, it looks as though we'll see low pressure gradually becoming a little bit more impactful - certainly towards the weekend.
"Maybe from about Wednesday through until the end of the week we're likely to see conditions be a little bit more unsettled."
