The Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage have released their monthly homeless report for December 2023.
When it comes to adults accessing local authority-managed emergency accommodation during the week of the 25th to the 31st of December last, there were 267 adults in the southeast region in total, made up of 172 men and 95 women.
In Waterford, there were 89 adults accessing emergency accommodation, the highest of any county in the southeast region.
As it stands, there were 9,356 people accessing emergency accommodation on the island of Ireland on the week of 25th to the 31st of December last.
The figures from the Department of Housing do not include asylum seekers, women in refuge centres, rough sleepers, or the so-called hidden homeless.
13,318 people were registered as homeless over Christmas. It included 3962 children.
