The eagerly awaited 30th annual Helvick RNLI sponsored swim has been postponed for a third time.

The event was due to take place tomorrow (Sunday).

In a statement, Helvick Head and Dungarvan RNLI said: “Unfortunately and unbelievably, the weather Gods are against us again on our third attempt for the 30th Annual RNLI Sponsored Swim. Due to a poor forecast for this coming Sunday (strong easterly winds, even stronger gusts and a 1.5 meter swell), together with a small craft warning for Saturday (which we expect will be extended) we have decided to postpone the Helvick Swim yet again on safety grounds.”

A new date has been set for Sunday 31st August.

Activities on the Pier will also be postponed until August 31st including the Dog Show, BBQ, King and Queen of Helvick Competition and much more

“Thank you all for your continued support and we hope to see you on Sunday August 31st,” the statement added.
