Half-cooked turkeys for many as Christmas Day power outage affects thousands in Waterford

Christmas dinners in parts of Waterford City had to be eaten almost in the dark yesterday, after a major power outage.

It affected an estimated 3,100 customers across the St John's Park, Kilcohan, and Grange areas.

Locals have told WLR News that they were completely without electricity for two hours between 2pm and 4pm, leaving many people with half-cooked turkeys.

It's not known what caused the fault.

It's understood many people also experienced mobile signal outage during the same period.

Power was restored by 4pm and according to the ESB's website, there have been no further outages reported in Waterford today.
