Students planning to travel on a J1 visa can now access a dedicated section on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for useful information and guidance.
This update comes as student unions and government officials urge students to follow local laws and steer clear of participating in protests.
Tánaiste Simon Harris emphasised the importance of being aware of the conditions in the destination country.
“We’ve launched a new webpage offering practical advice,” he explained.
“In essence, it encourages students to get to know the environment they’re entering, look after their safety, share their location when out at night, stay connected with others, and be aware of local surroundings.”
Students going on a J1 this summer can find the Department of Foreign Affairs’ recommendations online.
