MEPs in the European Parliament have voted to remove a vice-president caught up in a growing corruption scandal from her role.
Just a short time ago, the vast majority of MEPs voted to remove Greek MEP Eva Kaili from her position as one of the vice-presidents of the Parliament.
Ms Kaili is one of several people who've been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes from World Cup hosts Qatar, who wanted to win influence in Europe.
Belgian investigators continued searching offices in the European Parliament in Brussels yesterday as the probe into the alleged brides continued.
Green MEP and Tramore-native, Grace O'Sullivan says it’s an atrocious situation.
"It's kind of rocked the whole senses of integrity in the parliament," she said.
The president of the Parliament, Roberta Metsola, described the situation as an "attack on democracy."
"Countries like Qatar can see a weakness in the parliament and come in and undermine the democratic process," MEP O'Sullivan says.
