Minister Norma Foley is today seeking Cabinet approval for the publication of the final report of the Farrelly Commission’s investigation into a disability service in the South-East, otherwise known as the ‘Grace’ case.
The Commission of Investigation into certain matters relative to a disability service in the South-East and related matters was established in 2017.
It was set up to investigate the care and protection of Grace and others in a former foster home in the South-East, known as (Family X).
The commission’s work has experienced numerous delays.
It was originally expected to cost a total of €5 million, with an additional €2.5 million in legal fees. However, by January of this year costs had reached €10.76 million by the end of 2024.
