Gilbert O'Sullivan will take to the stage of The Theatre Royal tonight for the first of five sold out concerts.
Having initially announced two dates, three extra concerts were later added due to huge demand.
Tickets for the concerts sold out quickly when released earlier this year.
It marks a long-awaited return to performing in his native city by the renowned singer/songwriter.
Born in December 1946, and a native of the Cork Road, Gilbert O'Sullivan is a three-time winner of the Ivor Novello Award - known for hits such as ‘Nothing Rhymed’, ‘Clair’, ‘Get Down’ and ‘Alone Again (Naturally)’.
In March this year he was awarded the Freedom of Waterford at a ceremony in City Hall.
Speaking to WLR News at that ceremony, he pledged to return to Waterford to perform in the near future.
The concerts take place tonight (Tuesday), Thursday November 28th, Friday November 29th, Monday December 9th and Tuesday December 10th.
