Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an assault that occurred in the John’s Hill area of Waterford yesterday (Friday).

The incident occurred at approximately 2:20pm.

A man aged in his 70s was taken to University Hospital Waterford to be treated for his injuries.

A man aged in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Waterford-Kilkenny Division under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

An investigation is ongoing.
